Front-end web developer / graphic designer

This is a unique opportunity. Monderer Design is looking for new talent to take us to the next level. We provide corporate identity, branding, print, event, website and interactive design services to our clients, to help them communicate their messages effectively and with purpose. We are a small, well-established graphic design firm and are adding a developer/designer to our collaborative team — to design and develop websites, and work with us on our branding and print projects. This is a full-time, salaried position. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, hard working, creative and an interest in writing clean and efficient code. Candidates must have a background and education in design or computer sciences, with exceptional typography, a thorough understanding of visual hierarchy, and a passion for designing for web. (about 50% web, 50% design)

  • Knowledge, experience
    and technical skills

    • 2+ years of front-end web development experience
    • A Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Portfolio showcasing website, print and/or branding design expertise
    • Able to design and develop websites from start to finish
    • Strong aesthetic sense and intuitive understanding of what makes a truly great digital experience
    • A demonstrated understanding of color, typography and image manipulation and preparation
    • Proficient in relevant software packages including Adobe Creative Suite
    • Proficient in HTML5, CSS3 and responsive design required
    • Ideally, experience with Javascript/jQuery and PHP
    • Experience with Wordpress or other CMS
    • Experience with Git or other source control methods is a plus
    • Experience with HTML emails and building email templates in tools like Constant Contact or MailChimp
    • Passionate for learning and applying new technology
    • Basic UX skills and ability to evaluate and improve the information architecture of a website through sitemaps and wireframes

    • Keen to learn, with a willingness to broaden skill set across all design competencies
    • Able to multi-task, prioritize and perform

    • Ability to develop and maintain open, honest and trusting relationships

    • Open-minded and receives feedback well during internal and client design reviews
